How many times have you heard the sounds of sirens and wondered, "where are those coming from"? Have you ever tried to get out of the way, and almost had an accident? Think back and remember the feeling you had shortly after. An adrenaline release probably elevated your heart rate and gave you an uncontrollable shaky feeling in your extremities.
.
A driver generally tends to look in the direction his vehicle travels. That's the reason the vehicle ends up crashing into the object where the driver was looking. When you finally see the emergency vehicle, it's usually much too late to react. During that time the driver must work from instinct and muscle memory to make the most of his skills. If you react instinctively and use your know-how to escape danger, evade an emergency vehicle, or neutralize the threat, your rate of survival just might go up.
You must yield the right-of-way to fire, ambulance, police and other authorized emergency vehicles when they are responding to emergencies. They will display flashing red, blue or red and white, lights and sound a siren or air-horn. When you hear or see an emergency vehicle approaching your vehicle from any direction, including on your side of an expressway or limited access highway, safely pull over immediately to the right edge of the road and stop. Wait until the emergency vehicle passes before driving on. If you are in an intersection, drive out of it before you pull over.

You must pull over and stop for an emergency vehicle even if it is coming towards you in the opposite lane of a two-way roadway.
If you hear a siren or air-horn nearby but do not know exactly where the emergency vehicle is, you should pull over and stop until you are sure it is not approaching you. An emergency vehicle using lights and a siren or air-horn may be unpredictable. The driver may legally exceed the speed limit, pass red lights and STOP or YIELD signs, go the wrong way on one-way streets and turn in directions not normally allowed. Although emergency vehicle drivers are required to exercise due care, be very cautious when an emergency vehicle approaches.
The BOLO911 will identify the immediate threat and could change the outcome of a situation. The BOLO911 will allow you to react to a given threat more effectively, giving you ample time to look for an escape route or a safe place to pull over.
The BOLO911 will also alert you when you enter a school zone, advising you to slow down to the posted speed limit. It will also alert you when a school bus is loading or unloading passengers making it safe for our children and yourself
