The BOLO has three (3) rows of twelve (12) lights. The rows of light will illuminate from left to right left indicating that the emergency vehicle is at a distance and approaching. When the row of lights is fully lilt it will indicate that the emergency vehicle is in the immediate area.

The fist light on the left indicates“FAR”.  The lights illuminates in sequence to the right, indicating “NEAR”


The “first” row of lights will be the color BLUE indicating that there is POLICE emergency activity in the immediate vicinity.

 


The “second”  row of lights will be the color RED indicating that there is FIRE and AMBULANCE emergency activity in the immediate vicinity.

 


The “third” row of lights will be the color YELLOW indicating that there is a TRAIN, SCHOOL BUS (loading, unloading passengers) and SCHOOL ZONE in the immediate vicinity.

                                                                         

 


The rows of light will be activated by the BOLO sending unit that will be located in

POLICE-FIRE VEHICLES, TRAINS, SCHOOL BUSSES and SCHOOL ZONES.

The BOLO sending unit located in  Police vehicles.Once activated, it will send a signal. The signal will be received by all BOLO receivers in the immediate vicinity.  The BOLO will alert the commuter by illuminating the BLUE row of lights. From left (far) to right (near).  The commuter in now alerted and should use caution.

Firefighters

The BOLO sending unit located in FIRE, FIRE RESCUE and AMBULANCE vehicles. Once activated, it will send a signal. The signal will be received by all BOLO receivers in the immediate vicinity. The BOLO will alert the commuter by illuminating the RED row of lights. From left (far) to right (near).  The commuter in now alerted and should use caution.

Trains

The BOLO sending unit located on Trains wills constant send a signal. The signal will be received by all BOLO receivers in the immediate vicinity. The BOLO will alert the commuter by illuminating the YELLOW row of lights. From left (far) to right (near). The commuter in now alerted and should use caution.

School bus warning

The BOLO sending unit located on  School Busses will send a faint signal. The signal will activate when the school bus is loading and unloading passengers (open door) the signal will be received by all BOLO receivers in the immediate vicinity. The BOLO will alert the commuter by illuminating the YELLOW row of lights up to the 6th light From left (far) to right (near). The commuter in now alerted and should use caution.

School Zone warning

The BOLO sending unit will be installed on School Zone the signal will be activated only during SCHOOL ZONE hours.  The signal will be received by all BOLO receivers in the immediate vicinity. The BOLO will alert the commuter by illuminating the YELLOW row of lights up to the 6th light From left (far) to right (near). The commuter in now alerted and should use caution.

Listen

The audible tone will activate when the 6th light is illuminated creating a secondary alert to the commuter of the emergency activity.  The commuter can deactivate the audible tone by pressing the mute button located on the BOLO. The audible signal will automatically reset itself when the BOLO receives and additional signal.  This will alert the commuter to find a safe place to pull over or slow down and let the emergency vehicle pass.

      

The BOLO sending unit will also activate a receiver that will be placed in traffic control boxed at intersections. The receiver will trigger a flashing white strobe light that will be installed on top of traffic signals. The flashing strobe will alert commuters and pedestrians alike that there is an emergency situation at the approaching intersection.
